MACAO, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The hotel sector of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) recorded a 5.1 percentage point increase in average guest room occupancy in the first half of 2025, reaching 89.1 percent, according to the SAR's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) on Tuesday.
Statistics showed that at the end of June, the Macao SAR had 147 hotel establishments, up by four from the previous year. Guests from the Chinese mainland continued to form the majority, increasing by 0.8 percent to 5,349,000. International guests reached 589,000, a year-on-year growth of 8.6 percent.
According to the statistics service, in June alone, Macao's average hotel occupancy rate stood at 88.4 percent, up by 5.6 percentage points year-on-year.
In terms of package tours, international visitors rose by 12.2 percent to 117,000 in the first half year, led by a 19.7 percent rise in tour groups from South Korea, the DSEC reported. Meanwhile, outbound travel by Macao residents through travel agencies climbed by 3.9 percent to 267,000. Enditem
