LIMA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- China's Su Lianbofan claimed the silver medal in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Lima, Peru on Friday, earning his first individual World Cup podium.

Su, who placed second in qualification just behind Czech shooter Matej Rampula, delivered a composed performance in the final. Despite trailing early and facing elimination, the 22-year-old rallied with a perfect round during the elimination stage to stay in contention.

The final saw several momentum shifts. Germany's Olympic champion Christian Reitz and China's Zhu Haojie led the early rounds, but Su surged from behind with a clean fourth stage to move into medal position. He then edged out Reitz in a shoot-off to enter the final duel against Rampula, only to see the Czech make a flawless final five shots, finishing with a score of 30.

Su closed with a total of 27, while Reitz took the bronze ahead of Zhu.

After four competition days, the United States leads medal tally with three gold, two silver and one bronze medals, followed by India and the Czech Republic with two golds each. China sits fourth with one gold, two silvers and three bronzes.

The ISSF World Cup will continue on Saturday with men's and women's 10m air rifle golds up for grabs. Enditem
