A new mobile app has been introduced among all members of the country's top political advisory body to enable them to better perform their duties, a spokesperson said on Saturday.

During a press conference in the lead-up to the second session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), spokesperson Guo Weimin announced that most of the political advisors had already downloaded the app to find information and discuss matters of interest relating to their work, anywhere and at any time.

Since the app was introduced last August, a total of 16 discussions have been held on the platform with the participation of over 1,400 members who aired their voices over 4,000 times. The discussions so far have provided 106 suggestions on issues of common interest, Guo said.

The 13th CPPCC National Committee is composed of over 2,000 members including government officials, entrepreneurs, military officers, members of non-Communist parties, individuals without party affiliation, experts and scholars, individuals from Hong Kong and Macao, and representatives of religions and ethnic minority groups.

The body's main functions are political consultation, democratic oversight, and participation in the deliberation and administration of State affairs.

Hailing the use of the internet as an innovation and a good avenue for improving their work, political advisors say the app helps eliminate time and space barriers and increases their sense of participation in national political affairs and their sense of responsibility.

During this year's session, Guo said a theme-based discussion group will be established online by the CPPCC National Committee so members can hold discussions relating to their work as well as their proposals to complement the in-person meetings.

The CPPCC meeting opens on March 3.
