Waving both Chinese and Canadian flags, chanting "One China!" and playing loud patriotic music, thousands of Chinese people spontaneously rallied at Dundas Square in Toronto Saturday to support their beloved homeland and denounce Tibet independence movements, separatists' ugly violence in deadly Lhasa riots, and the biased western media. Such events were also held in Vancouver and Calgry, Canada. (China.org.cn)

About 2,600 Chinese Canadians and Chinese students studying in Canada rallied Saturday in Toronto and Vancouver to protest against the recent riots in Lhasa and the foreign media's distorted coverage of the event.

About 2,000 demonstrators rallied at Toronto's Yonge-Dundas Square on Saturday to show their support for their native country.

The group waved both Chinese and Canadian flags and chanted such slogans as "One China!" "Report the truth in Tibet, Safeguard the unity of our homeland!" and "Tibet is developing well!"

They also sang China's national anthem and other patriotic Chinese songs such as "My Chinese Heart" during the two-hour peaceful event.

The demonstrators said China has been unfairly portrayed by some foreign media during the recent riots in Lhasa.

"We just want to let the Western media know ... not to twist the truth," said a Chinese student who gave his name as Jeff Wang.

"Propaganda, just propaganda," said Yang Chao. "If you know the truth about what's really happening in China, it's nothing like what's being reported (by some foreign media)."

In Vancouver, about 600 people gathered in the downtown area to show their anger at the separatists' violent acts and foreign media's false reports.

They chanted slogans such as "Stop Violence" and "Stop media distortion" and sang patriotic songs during the three-hour event, which proceeded peacefully.
