A preparatory meeting of the third session of the 9th National People's Congress of Tibet Autonomous Region passed 12 agendas on January 9, Tibet Daily reported. The 7th agenda is a draft accepting the resignation of director of the 9th NPC Standing Committee Legqog. The 8th is a draft accepting the resignation of Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region Qiangba Puncog.

Qiangba Puncog, of the Tibetan ethnic group, is a native of Changdu, Tibet Autonomous Region. Born in May 1947, he started work in October 1970 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in May 1974. He graduated with a major in Machine Manufacturing from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Chongqing University.

He worked as Secretary of CPC Bomi County Committee, Tibet Autonomous Region from 1980 to 1983, Secretary of CPC Lhasa Municipal Committee from 1997 to 1998 and Standing Committee member of the CPC Tibet Regional Committee and concurrently secretary of CPC Lhasa Municipal Committee between 1998 and 2003.

He was Chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region government and executive vice secretary of the CPC Tibet Regional Committee since 2003. He is an alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.

Agendas of the third session of the 9th People's Congress of Tibet Autonomous Region:

1. Listen to and deliberate on the government work report of the autonomous region.

2. Examine and approve the report on the execution of 2009 economic and social development plans and draft of 2010 economic and social development plans.

3. Examine and approve 2009 budget performance of the autonomous region and 2010 budget performance scheme.

4. Listen to and deliberate on the standing committee of NPC work report of the autonomous region.

5. Listen to and deliberate on Higher People's Court work report of the autonomous region.

6. Listen to and deliberate on People's Procuratorate work report of the autonomous region.

7. Vote on the draft of the resignation of director of the 9thTibet Autonomous Region NPC Standing Committee Legqog.

8. Vote on the draft of the resignation of director of Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region Qiangba Puncog.

9. Elect director of the 9thTibet Autonomous Region NPC Standing Committee.

10. Elect Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region.

11. Hold a by-election of deputies of the 11th NPC.
