Confidence is the source of power to overcome difficulties in coping with the current global financial crisis, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said on Saturday.

Wen told a press conference of the seventh Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) which concluded?in Beijing?on Saturday that to strengthen confidence is one of the three things "we can do to tackle the crisis".

"All the countries, especially developed ones, should take measures as quickly as possible to stabilize the financial market and make the public build confidence," Wen said.

The measures taken by many countries have already taken elementary effect, however, further efforts are still needed, he said.

"The first important information this meeting delivers is that we should strengthen confidence," he said.

Wen also said that China was looking forward to working with the ASEM members to turn the documentary achievements of the meeting and its follow-up proposals into realities so as to push forward the cooperation between Asia and Europe to a new stage.

The press conference was attended by leaders of this ASEM's four coordinators, including China, European Commission, Brunei and France.

The seventh ASEM summit opened Friday afternoon with the attendance of the leaders and representatives from 45 Asian and European nations and organizations.

The summit has drawn the participants' attention to the designed topics of energy, climate change, food security and sustainable development to cope with the current global financial crisis.
