Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang will visit Switzerland from Jan. 25 to 28, and attend this year's World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos.

Li would address the forum which gathers world political, business and media leaders in the alpine resort, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a regular press briefing Thursday.

He was also expected to discuss ways for the world economy to progress on the road to recovery and elaborate China's policies and views.

"China hopes all parties could use the WEF platform to explore how to draw on lessons from the crisis," Ma said.

He called on participants to find ways to resolve contradictions in the world economy, overcome trade and investment protectionism, effectively cope with global issues such as climate change, food and energy security.

"The world economy is in a critical period of recovery," Ma said.

The overall recovery of world economic growth still faced uncertain and unsteady factors as its foundation was still not solid and the profound influence of the financial crisis remained, he noted.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei, at another briefing Thursday, said the global financial crisis exposed shortcomings in the governance structure of the global economy.

He spoke of principles and priorities for reform of the structure, such as comprehensive and deep discussion, enhancing the representation and say of developing countries, understanding and comprehension of all countries' domestic situations, especially difficulties in developing states.

"China will stick to peaceful development, actively take part in and push forward international cooperation, shoulder its corresponding responsibilities and obligations, so as to realize mutual benefits and common development," He said.

Switzerland established diplomatic ties with China in 1950 and is a major investment and technology source.

"China attaches importance to the relationship with Switzerland and regards it as an old and good friend. China appreciates its adherence to the one-China policy," He Yafei said.

During his stay in Switzerland, Li would meet with government and business leaders and strive to further promote bilateral ties, He said.
