Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform recently disclosed that out of the 38 key projects planned to commence in the first quarter of this year, 31 have already started construction, achieving a commencement rate of 82%, the highest level in recent years for the same period.

In the city's central business district (CBD), construction has begun on the Chuangxiang Building, with a total investment of 6.6 billion yuan (US$912 million). With a construction area of 170,000 square meters, the building will be used as office spaces and commercial facilities.

In Tianzhu Comprehensive Bonded Zone of Shunyi district, the Beijing aviation engine maintenance project has completed its main structure. The facility is expected to be completed in June and begin servicing Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines by the end of the year. This project will strengthen the region's high-end aviation manufacturing and maintenance sector by attracting key resources.

Meanwhile, in Pinggu district, construction is underway on a comprehensive agricultural research center. Covering more than 100,000 square meters, the facility will support industry experimentation, technology development, pilot production, and business incubation, serving enterprises, research institutions, and universities.

Beijing is also making progress on additional infrastructure. The expansion of Subway Line 13, the largest renovation of an existing metro line in China, involves a total investment of 34.4 billion yuan and will extend the line by 29 kilometers. 

On Line 22, more than half of the station structures in the Beijing section have been completed. Additionally, construction is advancing smoothly on nine metro lines, further improving the city's public transportation network.

Key projects aimed at enhancing public services are also moving forward. The Changping Experimental School of Beijing Normal University, now under construction, will accommodate 1,440 students from grade one to nine.

In Tongzhou district, the Wanli business complex with a total investment of 8.94 billion yuan is taking shape and scheduled to open in the second half of the year. Spanning 476,000 square meters, the complex will feature Wangfujing Outlet, Tingyun Town, and a high-end hotel. Located near Langfang in Hebei province and Tianjin municipality, it will serve as a weekend getaway destination for residents of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
