3D Technology & Creation Expo debuts in Chaoyang

The First 3D Technology and Creation Expo will open Wednesday, Nov 17, at the Chaoyang Museum of Urban Planning. Running from Wednesday to Sunday (Nov 17-21), the Expo features an industry summit, a development forum, 3D displays and an art festival.

The China Cultural and Creative Industry and Financial Capital Summit will be held on Wednesday with attendees from cultural sectors of local government, 3D video production companies, investment banks and media corporations. Professionals and industry insiders will discuss new patterns of financial capital and investment for the creative industry, business creation of new media, integration of industrial chains, development of cultural parks, and the competitive advantages of the Chinese creation industry and its global strategy.

Renowned director and producer Lu Chuan and CEO of Village Roadshow Entertainment Group Greg Basser along with film industry insiders from both home and abroad will debate the challenges and opportunities of 3D technology within the film industry in the forum "Bottleneck or Opportunity?"

Visitors can view a 21-hour 3D show, which combines movie trailers, fashion shows, live concerts, and documentaries. During the four-day 3D carnival starting from Thursday, Nov. 18, they can also participate in the production of 3D movies, experiment with 3D equipment and the largest digital sand table in China. Free tickets will be handed out at the museum.

The first Chaoyang Campus Art Festival will also be held during the Expo. Fashion and graffiti-art shows, short comics and films will present the colorful campus life in China.

Chaoyang Museum of Urban Planning is in Chaoyang Park, adjacent to the Olympic Beach Volleyball grounds. It is built on the site of three old workshops of a former gas appliance factory. It is a model of the transformation of former industrial areas. With a total area of 15,000 square meters, the museum consists of six functional spaces: digital sand table exhibition area, theme-planning exhibition area, history gallery, 3D and 4D theaters, T-shape multifunction exhibition area, and the temporary exhibition and entertainment areas. It formally opened on March 16, 2010 and admittance is free to the public.
