Guangzhou Automobile Group Component Co has announced it will form a joint venture with leading automotive supplier Johnson Controls to make instrument panels and floor consoles in China.

According to the agreement, the plant of the new Guangzhou GACC-Johnson Controls Automotive Interior Systems Co will be located in Panyu District with construction to be done by next year.

It is planned that the new joint venture will establish local design, development, engineering and manufacturing capabilities for automotive interior products and systems starting in 2010.

Guangzhou Automobile Group Component Co is the subsidiary of Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co, a partner of Japan's Toyota Motor Corp and Honda Motor Corp.
