After the preview in Beijing last week, audiences had different feedbacks. "I am disappointed with the film. It is a depressing comedy, very pessimistic and not as good as the first installment," said 35-year-old He Lu, while others insisted it is a better film.

"It's more sophisticated, richer than the first in terms of story and themes," said 29-year-old Chen Lei, a film editor.

The first film portrays locales such as Xixi Wetland and Hokkaido of Japan, thereby making them popular travel destinations for Chinese back in 2008. The producer of, If You Are the One 2, Huayi Brothers Pictures has teamed up with Beijing Tourism Administration to promote tourism in the capital city. The film was shot mainly in Beijing, capturing local sights including Mutianyu Great Wall, Zizhuyuan Park and 798 Art District.

"I did the first installment and heard how Hokkaido became popular for Chinese. As a Beijing native, I was thinking of doing something for Beijing tourism. Therefore, we worked with Beijing Tourism Administration to promote a few interesting places in the film," explained Feng.

Apart from the product placement for Beijing tourism, there are over 20 sponsored ads running through the film, including product placements for cars, airlines, hotels and banks, with their logos and close-ups. "I complained about advertising for the first installment, but it may be wrong to complain when you are using their money," said Feng during recent Guangzhou preview.

With the box office reaching 647 million yuan ($96 million) for his last blockbuster Aftershock, Feng is China's "most profitable" director. True to form, he declined to comment on box-office expectations. "If You Are the One 2 is successful as a story, box office revenue would not be a problem at all," he said.
