San Marino, the world's oldest and smallest republic, released a set of stamps dedicated to the Shanghai World Expo 2010, today.

According to a press release from the San Marino section of Expo 2010, the stamp release involves a set made up of a souvenir sheet with four values of € 0,65-1,00-1,50-1,80, designed by Cristian Ceccaroni.

In the foreground the souvenir sheet depicts the Statue of Liberty with the flag of San Marino, and in the background the Government Building, Mount Titano and the Three Towers. The Great Wall of China is depicted on the right of the souvenir sheet. Inside are four stamps: a € 1,80 stamp of the Government Building and the Statue of Liberty, a € 1,50 stamp displaying the First Tower, a € 1,00 stamp which depicts the Second Tower and the € 0,65 stamp which portrays the Third Tower.

San Marino will have a pavilion in Zone C of the European Joint Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010.

San Marino is a hilly territory around a spur, on the top of which is the fortified historical center. Between the first and second tower, with walkways and fortifications, is San Marino's Government Building and other institutional buildings, the Statue of Liberty and the main monuments in a landscape which is unique for its architecture, views and setting.
