"Fish Numen" ("Fish Diety"), a play about the eternal questions, will be staged by Linc2theater next weekend at Ke Center for Contemporary Arts.

It is the second work by Yiyun Tsai, a post-'80s generation female playwright who founded Linc2theater four years ago.

Her themes are no less than the meaning of life, eternity, the soul, fear of death - the big questions.

It will be the largest production of the young theater group. It is Tsai's second work as playwright, three years after her first, "Momo and Niannian."

"At least it's a sincere and moving work even if I can't express myself enough in a single work," says Tsai.

"The enlightenment you obtain from this play is the meaning of my work, whatever it is. To me, words are verbal pictures of soul but not pretentious bragging."

Graduated from the Shanghai Theater Academy, Tsai performed in "Last Night in Shuangyong Road" and "Momo and Niannian." She also produced "Le You Yuan" and "Last Night in Shuangyong Road" - important works by Lin2theatre.

Over the past three years Tsai has been considering the changes in herself and the play reflects some of this.

"All of us are not able to cross oceans of time to find our former self. However, we still can keep some childlike innocence, which is precious for life. Many times our childhood home haunts us at night - it's like spanning the barrier of time to re-examine ourselves. When we wake up, we find that we can't go back to the beginning anymore," says Tsai.

The Linc2theater is a young team founded in 2005. Almost all the actors, playwrights, stage designers and music creators are from the post-'80s generation.

The new play "Fish Numen" will feature Han Yifu, Wang Tianyi, Zhao Yingyan and Wu Yonggan.
