The Nanjing Normal University recently carried out a poll among
the female postgraduate students in the city in the hope of finding
out their requirements for ideal husbands. In the poll, more than
80 percent of them list a good financial background as the most
important criterion for them to choose their husbands, the
Yangtze Evening News reported.
About 100 questionnaire forms were randomly issued to female
postgraduate students of Nanjing University of Aerospace and
Aeronautics, Nanjing University of Chemical Technology, Nanjing
Univeristy, and Nanjing Normal University.
The investigation shows that about 86 percent of the students in
the survey say they want to marry a rich person, ranking first
among all criteria listed in the forms.
The questionnaire contains altogether 80 items of 16 categories,
which list all the important factors that students might consider
when choosing their husbands. These requirements include almost
everything, from age, appearance, height, to character, moral
quality, educational background, financial background, and family
background. Factors like the most ideal time for marriage and
whether or not the man has got married before are also included.
The result shows that 86 percent of the respondents place “being
rich” as the most important factor for them to consider when
choosing their husbands, 84 percent choose “moral quality” and 80
percent pick “personal capabilities”, ranking second and third,
respectively, among the factors under their consideration.
As most students say, a good financial background is indeed very
important to them because when they chose to continue their study
in college, the very aim for them to do so was that they wanted to
find a good job after graduation and live a better life. In
answering the questionnaire, all the students require that their
husband should make an income of at least 3,000–5,000 yuan a month
and 67 percent pick the salary range between 5,000-10,000 yuan. 45
percent of the students say the more their husbands earn, the
better. 97 percent of them pick financial background as one of the
most important factors in their marriage.
