Adjust font size:

Heavy fog will linger in north China until a south-moving cold front arrives on Friday, the Central Meteorological Station said in Beijing?Wednesday.

The met experts said the weather will remain foggy in most parts of north China and northeast China for the next two days.

Visibility will be less than 500 meters in Tianjin, in the central and southern parts of Hebei, northern Shandong, northern Henan and central Liaoning.

Fog has blanketed these areas since Monday, reducing visibility in some areas to just 50 meters, according to local meteorological stations.

In the next three days, cold air will strike north China and the northern part of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, bringing temperatures down by four to eight degrees Celsius.

The temperature in the eastern part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the northern part of north China will drop by 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, according to the weather forecast.

Snow flurries or moderate snow are expected in northern Xinjiang, the far north and some parts of northeast China. The northern part of Liaoning and the southern part of Jilin can expect heavy snow in the next three days.
