Representatives of Japan and China's ruling parties gathered in Tokyo yesterday for their second meeting under the China-Japan ruling parties exchange mechanism. The first such political dialogue occurred in Beijing in February.

 

The meeting was jointly organized by Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its coalition partner, the New Komeito Party.

 

During the meeting, Wang Jiarui, head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee's International Department, LDP Secretary-General Hidenao Nakagawa, and?Yoshihisa Inoue, vice representative of the New Komeito Party delivered key-note speeches on improving and developing Sino-Japanese relations.

 

The delegates also discussed implementation measures for the consensus reached by the two nations' leaders, the enhancement of exchanges between the ruling parties and political consolidation of?bilateral ties.

 

They also discussed efforts to strengthen economic cooperation in the fields of energy and environmental protection and promote exchanges between young people from the two countries.

 

Japanese prime minister and LDP president, Shinzo Abe, also met with Wang yesterday and congratulated on the success of the meeting.

 

Abe said that the recent successful meeting between leaders of the two countries?had pushed bilateral ties into a new era of strategically mutual beneficial relations. He added that the two sides should strengthen cooperation and contribute to regional and global peace and stability.
