The General Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee has issued Opinions on Strengthening the Work of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on Wednesday.

The CPPCC plays a important roll in multi-party co-operation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC, states the document. Historically the Party has always attached great importance to the development of the CPPCC.

The major function of the group is to conduct political consultation, exercise democratic supervision, organise its members from various non-Communist political parties, large organizations and public figures from all walks of life to take part in the discussion and management of state affairs. .

The CPPCC, as the national advisory body, is a significant member of the country's governance structure, the document explains, stressing that it will be expected to play a bigger role in the future and improve its performance..

CPPCC adopts decision on study of CPC proposal
 
The Standing Committee of the National Committee of China's top advisory body passed Tuesday a decision on the study and implementation of a proposal by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on strengthening the country's political consultation work.

The decision urged the committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at all levels to fully grasp the importance of the proposal which is a guideline document for directing the development of China's political consultation in the new century.
