Special representatives from China and India concluded their sixth round of talks on boundary issues on Wednesday in Beijing.

During the talks that began on Monday, both sides said that the momentum of growth of the China-India strategic and cooperative partnership has provided more favorable conditions for the settlement of boundary issues that date back many years, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Attending the meeting were Dai Bingguo, China's special representative and vice foreign minister, and M. K. Narayanan, India's special representative and National Security Adviser of India.

The two sides held that the signing of the Agreement on the Political Parameters and Guiding Principles for the Settlement of the Boundary Question Between China and India in April 2005 laid sound groundwork for the settlement of the boundary question.

The two sides agreed to build on previous achievements and proceed in the overall interest of the bilateral relationship and the fundamental interests of the two peoples to actively pursue a framework for the boundary settlement in a constructive manner, so as to promote an early and fair and reasonable settlement.

They also agreed to hold the next round of special representatives' meeting in India, date to be confirmed.

Narayanan also visited Shanghai on September 24-25 where he and his party met with Mayor Han Zheng.
