On Aug. 8, a charter flight from Bangkok, Thailand, brought 235 inbound tourists to Ordos Ejinhoro International Airport in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The group will embark on a six-day journey, exploring scenic spots such as the Resonant Sand Bay and Ordos Grassland. The charter program is scheduled to operate 20 flights, transporting a total of 4,400 tourists.  

Since the beginning of this year, Ordos has implemented multiple effective measures — including favorable policies, increased international flights, innovative tourism products, and improved services — to boost the inbound tourism market. The city has already launched direct flights to Ordos from Incheon, Daegu, and Busan in South Korea; Hanoi, Vietnam; Bangkok, Thailand; and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. So far, it has received over 19,000 inbound tourists, including 8,560 via charter flights. Additionally, the Kuala Lumpur-Ordos route has been approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China and is set to open in late August, with an expected 10 charter flights.  

Seizing opportunities from inbound tourism facilitation policies, Ordos continues to expand its international "air corridor." The Ordos Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism has organized promotional campaigns in Seoul, South Korea, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with representatives from key scenic spots and local travel agencies. These efforts aim to engage with overseas tourism associations and travel operators, further expanding the inbound market.

To enhance the visitor experience, Ordos has developed premium travel routes blending grassland scenery, desert resorts, and ethnic culture. Key attractions offer personalized services such as dedicated guides, foreign-language interpretation, and customized itineraries to attract international tourists.  

Moreover, the city has strengthened service guarantees, ensuring fast customs clearance for international flights. Key tourism venues now support foreign card payments via POS machines and have set up currency exchange points. All hotels in Ordos — over 2,500 in total — now accept valid travel documents for foreign visitor check-ins, making it the first city in Inner Mongolia to fully implement this policy.
