Editor's note: The "Endless Refreshment: Art of Feng Zikai" exhibition opened at the Beijing Fine Art Academy Museum on Sept. 5, marking the 50th anniversary of the artist's passing. The exhibition features paintings, cartoons, manuscripts and music fragments as well as interactive stations across four thematic sections—Poetic Sentiment, Compassion for Life, Childlike Delight and Leisurely Resonance—inviting visitors to move from looking to lived encounter.
Feng Zikai (1898-1975) occupies a singular place in modern Chinese culture as cartoonist, painter, educator and humanist. This memorial exhibition foregrounds the characteristic gentleness and moral attention of his work: spare lines that hold lyric feeling, cartoons that portray ordinary ethics, and didactic material that models a compassionate life.
