Editor's Note: Printing technology stands as one of China's most significant contributions to humanity — the foundation of recorded knowledge and a force that transformed societies worldwide. An exhibition now on view at the China Printing Museum in Beijing explores this legacy, tracing how Chinese innovations fundamentally reshaped global communication.
The "Printing in the East: Printing Originates in China" exhibition presents seven major sections covering writing, papermaking, woodblock printing, movable type, multicolor printing, intangible heritage and the transmission of printing technology along the Silk Road. The exhibition includes ancient relics and interactive scenes demonstrating printing techniques.
The exhibition, a key part of the China Printing Museum's permanent collection, is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
