Beijing adds 35 service, manufacturing integration hubs

Beijing announced 35 new pilot and demonstration units on Wednesday aimed at deepening the integration of modern service industries and advanced manufacturing, according to the city's development and reform commission.

The latest batch includes three demonstration zones: Chaoyang New Quality Productive Forces Integration Demonstration Pilot Zone, Tongzhou Future Design and Big Health Integration Innovation Demonstration Zone, and Jingxi Yongding River Service and Manufacturing Integration Demonstration Park.

In addition, 32 companies, including Beijing Qihoo Technology Co., Ltd., were named as pilot enterprises.

The Chaoyang zone, covering 27 square kilometers, will focus on merging next-generation information technology and high-end equipment with service industries.

An official from the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform said enterprises in the zone related to "service and manufacturing integration" already account for 62% of its annual revenue.

The Tongzhou Future Design and Big Health zone covers 25.5 square kilometers in eastern Beijing. The zone will explore integrated development models that combine pharmaceutical research and manufacturing with health services, fashion design with consumer experiences, and future design with manufacturing and smart city applications.

The Jingxi Yongding River Service and Manufacturing Integration Demonstration Park is seeing growth in companies focused on artificial intelligence, the industrial internet, advanced manufacturing and aerospace. 

The park aims to combine AI with equipment manufacturing to create new business models, such as using AI in real-world applications and integrating high-end equipment manufacturing with related services and practical uses.

Among the 32 newly designated pilot enterprises are 10 "front-runner" firms and 22 "growth-oriented" firms. These companies are expected to play key roles in their industrial chains and help strengthen the resilience of Beijing's industrial and supply chains.

Beijing has so far recognized eight municipal-level demonstration zones and 67 pilot enterprises. Previously approved zones, such as the Changping Tsinghua National Key Laboratory base, have already established successful models.

This year, Beijing aims to develop 10 municipal demonstration zones and 100 pilot enterprises.

"We will promote the connection and expansion of these pilot demonstrations, accelerating the formation of a 'Ten Parks, Hundred Enterprises' development pattern and creating replicable models to support the construction of a modern industrial system," the official said.
