ITTF to offer more ranking points for Mixed Team World Cup

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) on Wednesday announced that its Executive Board has approved awarding more ranking points at the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup, seeing a significant rise from 1,000 points to 2,500.

The move comes after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board decided to include the mixed team event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games earlier this month.

Following a proposal from the ITTF World Ranking Working Group, winning teams at the Mixed Team World Cup will be awarded 2,500 ranking points, which will be distributed among individual team members based on their share of match wins.

"This adjustment underscores the ITTF's renewed commitment to the mixed team event, following its recent inclusion as the sixth table tennis event on the Olympic program," read an ITTF statement.

"It also reflects the federation's dedication to supporting the athletes who are already setting their sights on Olympic excellence," it added.

The 2025 Mixed Team World Cup will be held in Chengdu, China from November 30 to December 7.

The global table tennis' governing body said the ITTF World Team Championships Finals will also see an increase in ranking points awarded.
